PAPER PLEASURES OPEN DAY on 3rd December 2011

Articles from the Open Day will be on display until 21st December 2011.

The SOUTH AFRICAN QUILTERS’ GUILD 7TH NATIONAL TRAVELLING EXHIBITION (2011-2012) titled “JEWELS OF THE EARTH” is being hosted by MACS at 23 Haldane Road, Pelham, Pietermaritzburg, until 21st December 2011 .  MACS is open from 8am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8am to 12noon on Thursday and 8am to 2pm on Saturday.

“The South African Quilters’ Guild would like to welcome you to this, our seventh travelling exhibition where we proudly showcase the diversity of quilting in our country.  The theme “Jewels of the Earth” inspired quilters in South Africa to create what we have on view for you and we are very proud of their work.  This exhibition showcases a selection of quilts, diverse in design and rich in the use of colour, fibre and thread.  The different techniques used is an example of the variety found in our quilt making: from the popular traditional to the real works of art.  One can only admire the creativeness of the work on display.  The exhibition opened on 16th March 2011 in George and will be travelling throughout South Africa for 18 months.”  Jeanette Botha, President, South African Quilters’ Guild.
